Vexel ("the app", "we") is built privacy-first. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
All image processing — uniquification, watermarking, metadata removal, encoding and offline renaming — happens entirely on your Mac. Your images are never uploaded to us. We operate no servers that receive your images.
Vexel has no sign-in, collects no personal information, and includes no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking SDKs.
If you choose a cloud rename engine (OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint) and provide your own API key, Vexel sends a downscaled copy of the image you are processing to that provider solely to generate a filename. This only happens when you enable that engine. Those providers process the request under their own privacy terms. Use the offline "Apple Vision" engine if you prefer no network calls.
API keys you enter are stored in your macOS Keychain on your device and are never transmitted to us.
License keys are verified offline on your device. Purchasing is handled by our payment processor (e.g., Lemon Squeezy / Gumroad / Stripe), which collects the billing information required to complete your purchase under its own privacy policy. We receive only the information needed to issue and support your license (such as your email).
If you enable notifications, the app uses Apple's local notification system on your Mac. No notification data leaves your device.
Vexel is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted on this page with a new date.
